I graduated in the mid 2000s with a degree in print journalism and spent the next decade trying to make it as a newspaper report/editor before transitioning into content marketing. I’ve spent the past 5 years as an expert in integrated marketing, managing marketing communications and strategy for various brands and organizations. I have a unique perspective in messaging and public relations formed from a decade as a print journalist before my transition into marketing roles.

Learned my digital marketing from print's mistakes

In the early 2010s I was beginning to realize my career in print was a dead-end, so I began making the transition to copywriting and marketing communications. I obtained a Marketing Management Certificate from UCSC – Silicon Valley Extension in Santa Clara, where I received an education in digital marketing, where I learned strategies from some of the premier thought leaders of Silicon Valley.

Creative + Digital Analytics = Success

Making the transition from newspapers to digital marketing required a change in my marketing approach. My education at UC Santa Cruz gave me a unique perspective for balancing engaging marketing campaigns with the need to prove ROI analytically. From A/B testing to marketing automation (experienced in Salesforce and Mailchimp), I bring a combination of data-driven strategy with engaging content.

Experienced in both B2B and DTC

My most recent role was with Sourced Craft Cocktails, an alcohol catering company specializing in corporate events and large-scale festivals prior to the pandemic (B2B). Due to the cancellation of public gatherings in 2020, Sourced pivoted to a DTC craft cocktail delivery service. I helped oversee all marketing programs during this transition, including staffing, contract employees, and B2B and DTC strategies which increased revenue 50% in 2021 from the previous year, while launching 3 additional markets, to help Sourced become the No. 1 craft cocktail delivery service in the U.S. (revenue).

Through my familiarity and experience managing digital marketing projects, I’ve obtained my Google Adwords and Google Analytics certifications. This illustrates the deep understanding of not only creating SEO-rich content, but speak to my knowledge of understanding web customers and their online shopping experience.

I am currently serving as the Vice President of Communications for the Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association, where I am responsible for all communications, including press releases, website content, social media, and email marketing for the industry association.

With a background in journalism, I have a unique ability to craft marketing messages that become valuable content to a strategic audience. I’ve written B2B white papers that have been nominated as a “Thought Leader” for industry-specific awards and authored several winning award submissions on behalf of my organizations and leadership teams.

I'm a better hype man than Flavor Flav

In addition to my digital marketing skills, I have served as the primary public relations official and spokesperson for several brands, which has been featured in publications such as People Magazine, Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, Austin American-Statesmen, PBS Newshour, Architectural Digest, and more. I have a strong relationship with the Austin Business Journal, as well.

I can turn clicks into $$$

I’ve successfully turned content marketing into revenue streams. At Whim, I put out an email newsletter for the boutique resort and fine dining restaurant that directly led to a 38% increase in hotel occupancy rates and more than 200 dinner reservations from the previous year. At Sourced, I ran paid social media campaigns that grew DTC revenue more than 50% (>$3M total) in 2021 from previous year.
