Whim Public Relations
Served as Director of PR and Brand for hospitality company in Dripping Springs, handling media relations, influencer outreach, press releases, and notable award submissions.
When you want to make headlines in Dripping Springs, you have to think big. As part of Whim Hospitality’s efforts to stay connected to the local community, we decided to join the town’s annual Founder’s Day Celebration and Parade in a way that no one would forget. A branded float? Too easy. Free candy? Predictable. Instead, we decided to host an actual, live wedding on the back of our parade float. Yes, really.
The Whim Wedding: Making News and Making Vows
Picture this: The parade is rolling through town, families are lining the streets, and there’s Whim Hospitality’s float—complete with an officiant, decorations, and a couple exchanging vows in real time. The ceremony took place right in front of the judges’ stand, where the nuptials got front-row attention and instant buzz.
My role in this matrimonial spectacle? I handled the publicity from start to finish:
Wrote and distributed a press release that captured the charm and spectacle of the event.
Engaged media outlets to ensure coverage leading up to and after the parade.
Delivered a stunt that not only got Whim Hospitality front-page coverage but also turned the Founder’s Day parade into a moment people talked about long after the confetti settled.
The result? A huge splash of earned media, big smiles all around, and the best kind of publicity—the kind with wedding bells.
Award Submissions
In addition to pulling off events that made headlines, I was also responsible for writing industry award submissions. I crafted nominations that highlighted the best of what Whim Hospitality had to offer, whether it was innovative events, community engagement, or exceptional service.
The process included:
Identifying award opportunities that aligned with the organization’s strengths.
Writing compelling submissions that showcased accomplishments with flair and precision.
Occasionally securing wins that turned nominations into shiny trophies for the office shelf.
What I Did:
Publicity Stunt Creation – Orchestrated a live wedding on a parade float that earned front-page media coverage and delighted the community.
Press Release Writing – Promoted the event with engaging copy that captured attention and drove coverage.
Award Submissions – Wrote nominations that showcased Whim Hospitality’s strengths and turned accomplishments into industry recognition.
Between the buzzworthy Whim Wedding and successful award submissions, I helped Whim Hospitality stand out as a creative, community-minded brand. Whether we were making headlines or earning hardware, my work kept Whim in the spotlight and top of mind. After all, not every business can say they turned a parade into a ceremony—and nailed the vows.
